What are the follow-up medications? The follow-up medications you will be given at the clinic are:
Diazepam - These two sample pills are Valium, to help you sleep, IF you experience restlessness.
Donnatal - This medication is a combination of Atropine and Phenobarbital to maintain therapeutic levels of nicotine blocking medicines, and reduce anxiety.
Transderm SCOP Patch - This is a Scopolamine (patch form) that is applied to the skin to maintain therapeutic blocking levels and reduce nausea.
The follow-up meds need only be taken for at most two weeks. After this period all of the nicotine will be out of your system and there is no need for continued treatment. The medications are not addictive and will only be in your system for two weeks or less.
Both the follow-up medications and the medicines in the injections are FDA approved and have been around for over 100 years. The dosage you will be given is equivalent to a child's dose and is very safe.
